Kerry-leigh, 4, shows how she recently lost her two front teeth, at the Little David Educare Centre in Wentworth, a township on the southern side of Durban, in KwaZulu-Natal province. Over 92% of preschool children in KwaZulu-Natal attend unregistered ECD centres (crèches). Save the Children, operating in KZN for over 50 years, recognised the need to support crèches in the area with better management skills and access to learning materials, as well as running the crèche forums and supporting crèches with registration to become ECD centres.
