Lomua Longolio, 6 months old, waits to receive her BCG, DPT3 and Polio vaccinations at the Riwoto Primary Health Care Centre (PHCC) in Kapoeta North. Save the Children has a team of 12 vaccinators, 2 of whom remain in the Riwoto Primary Health Centre to provide vaccinations to mothers and children who make the journey to the clinic. The organisation supports five health clinics and is in the process of renovating two others. Each facility serves approximately 10,000 people, providing free consultations and basic medicines to people who would not otherwise have access to proper health care. This simple intervention is instrumental in addressing the problem of preventable deaths in young children caused by easily treated diseases such as diarrhea, malaria, and pneumonia.
